Veneers Q & A

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are wafer-thin porcelain shells that adhere to the front of your teeth. They provide added strength and can cover a variety of imperfections so your teeth appear more uniform, evenly spaced, and whiter. Your dentist custom-fits your veneers to each individual tooth, and they become a permanent part of a new and improved smile.

Veneers are easy to care for since you simply brush and floss your teeth as you normally would. Many adults choose veneers over other dental treatments for their ease of application and maintenance.

What dental problems can veneers correct?

Veneers improve a variety of common dental problems, including:

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Stained teeth
  • Unevenly shaped teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Small teeth
  • Decayed teeth
  • Crooked teeth

The team at Goldbaum & Rosenberg Dentistry customizes your veneers to give you a whiter, more symmetrical smile. They create veneers that are the perfect shape and color for your mouth.

What is the procedure for getting veneers?

You can usually get veneers in just one or two dental visits, depending on if you have to wait for your veneers to be made, or if they’re already fabricated. At the first appointment, your doctor makes impressions of your teeth so the veneers can be made to fit precisely.

When you come to your next appointment to have the veneers placed, your dentist first removes a small amount of enamel from the surface of each tooth. This makes room for the veneer to fit perfectly on the front side of your teeth.

Next, your dentist applies an adhesive cement to your tooth to which the veneer attaches. You probably won’t need an anesthetic since the procedure is relatively painless. An ultraviolet light cures the cement so the new veneer adheres securely to your tooth.

Once all your teeth have their new veneers, your smile is immediately more beautiful and ready to share with the world.

If you are bothered by cracked, chipped, or unevenly spaced teeth, dental veneers may provide the easy solution you’re looking for. Call the friendly office staff to schedule a consultation today, or book an appointment online anytime. It’s the first step toward a new and improved smile.
